Rochon was born and raised in Torrance. She was the daughter of Zelma Staples (a nurse practitioner) as well as Samuel Staples (a businessman and graphic artist). Cerritos was her home high school. Her graduation was in 1982. Her graduation was in 1986 at California State University Dominguez Hill (CSUDH) with a Bachelor's Degree in Broadcast Journalism, minoring in theatre and sociology. Heather is the creator and host of the web-based travel series, Drive Yourself Local, which follows her journey across America in her 1965 Ford Mustang sharing local slices of small town life. Ullerup was Julia Brynn in the 2006 remake of Battlestar Galactica, which was airing on Sci Fi Channel. Her character, Ashley Magnus, was created for Sanctuary's initial and second seasons. Her departure remained a topic of heated debate among viewers, with a majority of them wanting her brought to the show in subsequent episodes until the show was canceled in 2012. In 2016, Ullerup was cast as Bree O'Brien in Chesapeake Shores. Ullerup appeared as Maggie Thomas the estranged husband of Michael Thomas. Ullerup regularly appears as Dale Travers, in the Hallmark Signed, Sealed, Delivered series of films, which began in 2016.
